From the moment we stepped off the plane we have been greeted by nothing but big warm smiles and open arms, and today was no exception. It is clear to see why Malawi is known as the warm heart of Africa.

We started our day with a rugged journey up the mountain to Mpata Primary School where we could hear the singing from afar. The school community had prepared wonderful performances for us to enjoy. Claire, Lesley and Lauren were welcomed into the heart of Mpata and are looking forward to returning tomorrow!

We then made our way to Lipunga Primary which is a village school where it was extremely hot! We were welcomed with great joy and happiness by the local village chiefs, teachers, children and parents. We thoroughly enjoyed the displays of dancing, poetry and singing. Louise, Jane and Lauren are all set for their return tomorrow.

Our next stop was to HHI (Henry Henderson Institute) where we had a tour of the school and got to see their fantastic bright and colourful library where the children love to spend their time. Marie, Catriona and Ciara are eagerly awaiting their first day teaching tomorrow!

Finally, we made our way to the Mary's Meals headquarters to co-ordinate our partnership with our early years representatives, Liz and Sammy.

The Mary's Meals staff kindly gifted us with chitenje skirt each!

What an amazing end to a fabulous day.
