Today was our second day working together with the learners and teachers at HHI. It is great to see lessons that reflect on prior learning, incorporate group activities and  praise pupils for their for participation. We love the beginning  of each lesson where learners and teachers  express their appreciation for each other with the 'you are special' comment!

It is a stark difference to the practices Catriona saw in 2012 and is evidence of the impact of the MLOL project on Malawian education in Blantyre.

Our team of 3, Ciara, Catriona and Marie,  taught two sessions today, with both standard 7 classes, demonstrating learning intentions, active learning,  'think, pair, share', peer assessment and effective group work as well as working towards success criteria. Afterwards we had a successful professional dialogue with the standard 7 teachers and Simon, who is a very enthusiastic and motivated standard 6 teacher.

We are all invigorated by the enthusiasm of the learners and are excited to be doing more with the learners and teachers of HHI. It was great to see the learners engaged, motivated, happy and active in their learning.

We have happily survived 24hours with 'unpredictable' electricity, wifi and hot water but we are still smiling!!   Malawi IS 'the warm heart of Africa' and the people make it so.  Looking forward to the days and weeks ahead and working together to make a difference in Glasgow and Malawi ??
