Thursday the 20th of September I set off for the airport to meet my MLOL colleagues after my last cup of good Scotlands finest.
The MLOL 2018 are simply fabulous and like me are we excited to be travelling to Malawi. The airport was relatively quiet for a bank holiday weekend so we swiftly checked in leaving me with my hand luggage and the small bag pack that managed to smuggle through check in containing all my flight essentials – crisps, chocolate and the likes.
Our journey started off in Glasgow where we boarded an Emirates flight to Dubai. From Dubai we flew on to Johannesburg. This was the longest flight and I slept for a large portion of it. After a little confusion at the flight desk we then flew on to Blantyre in Malawi with Malawian Airlines.
We arrived in the warm heart of Africa at around 2pm local time on Saturday the 22nd of September, albeit minus one of our suitcases which we are confident will arrive soon. The reception at the airport was overwhelming. Our Malawian MLOL colleagues, their families and some children from Kapeni Demonstration School. Everyone seems so excited to be working with us and we are equally excited to be working alongside them.
