It has been a busy few days filled with many blessings and challenges. No electricity for over 36 hours resulted in planning by torchlight and eating in the dark.  I have been building up open trusting relationships with the staff I'm working with so that we can discuss and suggest ideas to each other to support the development of effective teaching strategies both here and in Glasgow.  Yesterday we used no hands up and throwing a ball to answer questions.  I was absolutely delighted today to see the staff trying these approaches out. Today though learners were completing a number of assessments - they do this at the end of each month. The teachers and I discussed how to reduce the marking workload and involve the learners in assessment.  Then Marie Breckenridge and I talked with Robert the HT about developing and creating an effective school. We then looked at our potential library space and started to get excited about how we could work with staff and learners to transform the space. I went to say hello to the mary's meals ladies and their helpers. I think the goats were hoping for some porridge. I was delighted to get the opportunity to go to michuri primary and discuss ideas for their mobile library. We completed our working day with a wee yoga session.
