Our second day of training was set in the beautiful grounds of Blantyre Girls' school, inside the Nidrande TDC.
The smiling faces of the Blantyre girls welcomed us into three classrooms today to absorb their joy and enthusiasm for learning. We were singing, dancing and joining in with their English paired reading lesson.
The children were confidently reciting the English words for their family members, collaborating with their peers, both in pairs and as a class. To walk around the playground with the learners was an absolute pleasure.
The language may be a barrier but their smiles are are enough to make the most lovely connections.
Timekeeping wasn't an issue today as we had the loudest cockeral in Malawi right outside the TDC, so we began sharp as he sounded at 9am.
We had almost 40 participants in our teacher training today who shared their knowledge and were keen to take on the strategies that we were suggesting to uplevel the teaching and learning in thier classrooms.
The environment was very much and open and sharing forum. Teachers were happy to role play classroom scenarios and ask questions about specific areas of pedagogy.
Despite the hot conditions today (almost 33 degrees) the teachers fully engaged in all tasks, the dedication to their own development as well as their learners' is clear.
Another fantastic day of collaboration, looking forward to returning to rural Blantyre tomorrow for day three.
