Malawi is everything I hoped it would be and so much more.

The kindness of the people, the vibrancy of the culture and the surroundings have blown me away. At times, the scenes around the towns and rural villages are hard to see with so much poverty around, but so many times you only see smiles on people’s faces as they work together to build their futures and make a living.

Working alongside Francis and Charity is incredible and they are the true heroes in this project. We had the joy of them joining us on Saturday to go to Majete Wildlife Reserve where we saw zebras, hippos, monkeys and Impalas. It was such an amazing experience to be in African forest looking for these animals. On our return to Kabula Lodge we started to look at the training and make final notes and compile final resources.

Sunday for me is a day that will stay for a very long time - visiting Stella Marris Girls School and attending mass was incredible.

Listening to singing, as a choir singer myself, brought tears to my eyes (and possibly my cheeks…). It was the most incredible sound and so full of rhythm, passion and joy. Then seeing the school and the incredible work they have done through support of the MLOL charity blew me away.

They are producing incredibly strong and powerful young woman for the future with so much passion and love for education.

In the afternoon, it was time to meet with heads of education for Malawi and Blantyre Urban and Rural and plan the week. Together we created a shared vision of what we hoped to achieve and there was so much energy for the week ahead!

Training day one tomorrow so early bed tonight, ready to rock and roll...
