After a brilliant night’s sleep, we all woke up today feeling refreshed and excited to seize the day!

Our first full day in Malawi, back in the warm heart of Africa.

It was so lovely to see Glory, Gift and Grace(Francis and Charity’s adorable children)all looking taller and even more beautiful than the last time I had seen them. Francis made the wet, bumpy drive to Majete Safari Park.I think we have brought the rainy weather with us from Scotland.

Luckily, the rain all cleared and the sun made a glorious appearance, just in time to get out in our truck.

I introduced Grace to ‘Fred’ the frog, our school Read, Write, Inc mascot. She quickly formed an attachment to Fred and made sure he was fully involved in the Safari from start to finish, showing him all of the animals. We explored the vast areas of land and had high hopes in our quest to find the ‘big five.’

Sadly, I think they were all suffering from stage fright as none of the big five made themselves known to us. However, it was amazing to see a range of other beautiful animals and felt like another ‘pinch me’ moment as we all took pictures of these fantastic African creatures. Gift made sure we all got additional information on the animals by asking questions throughout. I am sure he is Doctor Doolittle in disguise as he also seemed to be able to spot the animals before any of the rest of us! After a lovely lunch with Charity, Francis and the children, we made our way home.

We then came home and got showered and ready for dinner as we wanted an early night, ready for an early start to Stella Maris in the morning.
