Lipunga Primary - Sports Leadership Day 2.

My second day at Lipunga with the Sports Leaders and learners.

Today I taught the leaders games and activities relating to Rugby. This involved various warm up games which incorporated skills used in rugby such as fast feet, agility, speed, ball handling, competition, flexibility, coordination, communication and teamwork.

This culminated in the leaders taking standard 5 learners for these various games teaching them all they had learned in the morning. The end product was small sided fun games of touch rugby allowing the learners to get involved in a lightly competitive game of mini rugby and putting into practice the skills they had learned from the leaders.

The leaders worked extremely well with the learners explaining and demonstrating all the games and ensuring that they all had fun. This is very evident from the pictures and videos.

It is important to emphasise that very little time if any at all is spent on PE in the school curriculum. So, considering this and that the leaders have only been working with Henry (Sports Master) and myself for 2 days, they have performed very well and I have been very impressed with their attitude and application.

Tomorrow they will deliver the same rugby games but this time to standard 6, 7 and 8 learners. I am looking forward to seeing how they get on and watching the progress they have made.
