Today, Nayizi has seen more preparation for painting the library. Judith has again been out of class trying to organise which books to keep and which to gift to pupils.

Back in class, it was great to see pupils sitting in their groups and more engaged in their learning due to being able to read their books,of which there are more due to last week's library clear out! Pupils quietly read on and could find their place more easily if asked to read aloud and were able to answer questions more effectively, too!

During our break, Bill and I spoke with Tracy and Masavina and Salome (DHT) about our plans to paint and reorganise Nayizi's library on Wednesday. We also organised for Bill and I to meet with all four of our teachers during tomorrow's break to plan the Continuing Professional Development event that will take place in school later in the week to showcase what the teachers have learned, the strategies they have been trying out in their classes over the past few weeks and their impact.

We are delighted that all four teachers are willing to deliver the CPD event themselves (with Bill and I on hand to clarify or provide support, if needed). The fact that these teachers from the school are delivering the training will have a huge impact as they will be explaining the strategies they have tried and tested themselves and the positive impact they've had on their learners right here in their school. Staff have noticed a big impact in terms of pupil motivation, engagement and collaboration, which we are delighted with!

Upon return from our break, pupils had not yet received their phala. They were hungry and, understandably, less enthusiastic about their learning. Masavina effectively used Brain Gym for a few minutes to help liven up the learners and prepare them for their learning. They recapped on previous learning about the sense organs before moving on to learn about the tongue, it's functions and how to look after it, with me. Towards the end of our lesson, the phala arrived (over an hour late) and there was uproar and chants as everyone formed a huge line, holding their cups and waiting to get their much awaited phala. Bill and I have discussed with the HT more effective ways to ensure all pupils receive their phala in a safe manner and are looking to try out new ideas for this.

It was interesting to see that some pupils came back from the market during phala break with mangoes or popcorn to eat or what looked like small frozen ice poles! Meanwhile, cups were handed through the windows to learners who were inside the class but had no cup in order that they could have some phala, too. I assume that the people sharing cups are siblings or friends. Thankfully, everyone managed to get something to eat!

Whilst pupils ate their phala, I modelled how I would plan to teach a Recount lesson in English. Tomorrow, I will introduce writing in the style of a newspaper to learners in order that they can create their own newspaper articles about a road accident.

To finish off my day in school, Venison (HT) came in to class to observe Masavina teaching and to conduct learner conversations.

Another busy day with more positive progress and happy learners!
