Library day part II
After several days of emptying and preparation, the stock room was now ready for painting. Sarah, Ailsa, Marie and I turned up in our painting gear ready to paint. Ably assisted by Judith and a few other helpers who popped in and out. We started to paint using a ladder built from spare wood designed for someone 2m tall and a pole for the roller cut from a tree branch.
However with five eager pair of hands we attacked the room and got the walls painted. I hope health and safety officers weren't watching. Next came the bigger challenge as we looked at the books waiting to be stacked. Alarm calls were sent out to the junior librarians and with the extra help the books were sorted and shelved. And so the stock room which had been home to a bed, assorted broken cabinets and boxes of resources was now transformed. The junior librarians were drooling over the books and left with a big smile when they were allowed to take a book home.
The standard 6 curriculum for science is unbelievable. How do you carry out experiments normally associated with an S2 class investigating the period of a pendulum with "talular" or no resources. The ingenious learners came to the rescue and with mango seeds and strips form a plastic bag we had pendulums for 20 groups of excited learners. Initial review of the results are really unbelievable. I hope the photos upload successfully.
