Today the evaluation team visited Zingwangwa and I went along for the first part before heading to Stella Maris. My old friend , Sister Dianna has been reappointed as head teacher. She is very committed to the partnership with Holyrood and we will be able to complete the vocational training facility in horticulture, started last year.
The team found lots of good news in Zingwangwa and I was able to catch up with many of my favourite special needs pupils. I was then taken by surprise when the whole school and community gathered and danced in pouring rain as I was appointed Chief Tom of Zingwangwa ! It really is a very special community.
We then proceeded with Sharon to Anglia books and were able to select sets of books for some of our new MLOL libraries. Tonight will be a debriefing session with Sharon before her departure tomorrow. For us it's a 5.30 am start with our host Gay Russell, founding trustee of Mary's Meals. She is taking us to an Ash Wednesday service at the retirement home she supports and then has a full Mary's meals programme to follow. Should be a fascinating day.
